So I said I would post some pictures but guess what. I am terrible, terrible about taking pictures. So with posting this post it will be my mission to take pictures and post them. With the holidays around maybe that will not be hard to accomplish.

Where oh Where have I been

Well I haven't been blogging that is for sure. Just busy always something else to do, but I enjoy every one's blog and their updates so I decided to do one today.
We have enjoyed our summer going to the pool, sleeping in when we can and being outside in the evenings. We took a trip to Panama City Beach and had a relaxing week. Alison's girls were here for a few weeks so mom brought them to the beach then we came back and Shelley came home. The cousins had a blast together. It truly was sad to see them leave. They all wish they could live closer. I think it makes them cherish their time together more being so far apart. (GA, TX, NH). Elizabeth turned 9 July 23rd and will be going to 4th grade. Did I say 4th grade? I remember being there as if it was yesterday. Alexandria is 3 1/2 she is busy and feisty. I work 3 days a work so she goes to day care some and loves "school". So now school returns and I am returning as a student this year also. When I graduated nursing school 11 yrs ago I planned on working a year and going back for my Masters, well 11 years later I am doing it to get my NP. I guess there is nervous and excitement but a challenge I really want. The first year of my studies is done on line and a few Sat. classes before clinical next year which Alexandria will start full time school so I think it will work out fine. That is the update here hope to post pictures of the girls soon. Enjoy your days.

A posting of this and that. It has been a while . I have had my grandmother spent some nights with us and the girls love it. I found them jump roping and Alexandria loves to show her books.

Beach

We went to Orange Beach, Al for our summer vacation and spent a week enjoying the sand and sun. Tried to get a good family photo and after 60 something shots you see what I ended up with nothing. Elizabeth enjoyed riding the waves while Alexandria mostly stayed under the umbrella playing in the bucket of water and sand.

For spring break we went to Islamorado , Fl which is about 5 keys above Key West. We took a day and went to Key West so Elizabeth could see the southern most point, which she thought was neat. The weather was beautiful. It feels like you are in the carribeans. It took us about 13 hours to drive and that was enough.

Pesto....

My new found love Pesto sauce. I pretty much only cook veg. dishes. I could careless about meat and Earl now is limiting his meat eating so it can be hard to come up with different dishes, but I will say I come up with a few I really like. Good sauces is the key. I do a lot of noodles (variety) with stir fried veg. and then use different sauces to have a different taste. But I started using pesto and now I do everything with pest. Here are a few recipes I enjoy.

1. Bake potato with a smear of ranch dressing , cheese and vegs. (stir fried)-no sauce on these vegs.

2. Pasta noodles with pesto sauce(or any sauce) and vegs. top with little parmesan

3. Veg pizza, use your choice of crust, spread with pesto instead of tom. sauce , top with mozzarella cheese, add spinach, mushrooms, olives, jalapenos, squash, onion, green pepper and any others you would like. (It is great!!!!)

4. Tortilla wrap with Parmesan cheese and pesto veg. (love it)

5. Hey it may sound funny but Egg white omelet with veg. and top with hot sauce. Grits as a side.

Ok, now I am hungry, but I think we are going out for meat tonight. Bar-b-que maybe.

Pesto sauce is MUCH cheaper at Wal-Mart.

Ok , My pictures are backwards . Alexandria had her 2nd birthday yesterday. We had the family over for supper and cake. She loves baby dolls so that was the theme. I tried to get a family photo and none of them came out, then I tried to get a picture of Alexandria smiling and didn't succeed so these are the pictures that came out. Look a sweet Kate.

Early christmas

We had early Christmas with Papee and Memee ( Earl's Parents) yesterday. Poor Elizabeth has had a stomach virus and was under the weather as you can see in the pictures. His parents are down for a cousins wedding which is tomorrow. Weird ironic or what but tomorrow is our 11th wedding anniversary, it is also his parents anniversary and now a cousin is getting married tomorrow at the same place we got married. It must be a family date to wed.

Duluth Festival

The town of Duluth had a Christmas Festival. The kids enjoyed fun activities and yet the best was the Bake off contest. Lauren and I entered the kids in the kids bake off contest together. We made "I want s'more cookies". The first place winner received $100 , 2nd $50 and 3rd $25. Well they won first prize. So we took them to the toy store together to spend their winnings. They were so excited.

I can not believe it has been a month since I last posted and ashamed to say I haven't even taken one picture. Yes, not one picture was taken at Thanksgiving, but we had a wonderful time at Earl's parents home. Ok, now for my excuse. I am going back to work and looking forward to it. I will be working 3 days 12 hour shifts. Ask me in 6 months and I may have a different tone. Anyhow, I spent the holiday in my pharmacology book trying to cram what I learned in a semester into one week. The Monday after the holiday I had to take a drug administration test and I sure was nervous. I haven't taken a test in years. You have to make an 85 or higher so there is little room for error. Well , I have that behind me and a lot more learning to do, but the next test is to see where they need to begin with my orientation, so the pressure is not so intense. I am going to be on a cardiology unit so I have my books out and starting to study what I learned 10 or 11 years ago. Anyhow, I am excited and anxious to get started. Of course, I delayed the start until after Christmas. Hopefully, my postings will not get to far behind.

Fall gathering....

There was a fall gathering at Alvin and Joann's last weekend and it is always a special treat. Kids enjoyed horse drawn buggy rides and petting rabbits and feeding goats. There must have been 250-300 people. They do it every year and as you can see everyone enjoys it.

Daniel and Cindy had their precious little boy today. Liam Chandler, 7lb 10 oz., 20" He has a full head of black hair, well for now anyway. It was so cute Noah kept saying " I want to see my brother". Addison seemed to be enjoying her full attention from her grandparents.

Basil Rolls....

You may have noticed thru out my blog that I mention how I love Thai food, well I decided I would take on the challenge and learn to make Basil rolls. They turned out great and now it is part of our supper several nights a week. It takes a little bit of work to learn how to do the wraps but other than that it is simple. There is a lot of cutting up which include carrots, cucumber, red pepper, lettuce, basil leaf, minced chicken and cooked tofu. Yummy!!!!!

I have been bad about blogging lately, but I will say I have been way to busy to sit down and do it. School started last week which has been nice. I love routine. Elizabeth loves her school and teacher. She is always ready to get up and go but reminds me she is ready to be picked up also. Every morning she talks about snow and wants winter to come to see if we might get some this year, but I am looking forward to fall first. Well , I have been tagged so lets see what I come up with. A Weekend at the lake

This past weekend Mark and Lauren invited us to go with them to her parents lake house. It is a special treat . It is in the north Georgia mountains, very cool and quite. Elizabeth skied with Lauren as you can see in the two first pictures. The kids were in the water from the time we got there until we left. Rafting was a favorite of theirs.

Elizabeth wanted to have a birthday party with her cousins so we did a little party for her. She choose to have a July 4th theme , how fitting.

We enjoyed a week trip with my whole family to Rosemary Beach Florida. It was great. The kids are having withdrawel this week from not being together now. I will post pictures later but I am sure Shelley's link will have more than I could post being she took most all of the pictures.

Kathryn "Kate" Wynn arrived May 23rd around 7:45pm. She is 6lb 11oz and 19 inches long. All is well. I don't have pictures to post being we are at the beach. She just would not come before our trip. Little stinker, but I am told she looks just like big brother and it is his baby not their baby but HIS baby. Cute. Hopefully Tony and Becky blog link will have pictures posted today.

Happy Mother's Day. We enjoyed our day at my Uncle and Aunts house for a delicious dinner. It is fun to share this day all together with all the family in town. I was busy getting the girls ready this morning and the thought came to me I should let dad do this and I relax, but then I thought no I wouldn't know what to do that is what I do is be the mom. (well dad's can help) My girls make me who I am - a MOM.

My grandfather said the sweetest thing to me today. We had a busy weekend. We first went to a spring festival. There were a lot of kid activities. Then there was a wedding shower for Tim and Jaime and then on Sunday we had a birthday for the two sisters (mom and aunt Susan).

Spring Break Trip

We enjoyed a trip to Marco Island, Florida for spring break. Marco Island is as far down on the west coast of Florida as you can go. It was a 10 hour trip down but well worth it. We spent the whole week enjoying the bright sun. The weather was perfect. It is beautiful there. Elizabeth fished with Earl on the beach. She caught a baby shark and a jack. She was quite excited about that. She got a few more also. Earl caught a nice snook but it was to long to keep, I sure wanted to keep that to cook. Great eating. I wish I had of gotten a family picture but I didn't . I believe we have found our spring destination now.

Easter party

We had an Easter party today and had our friends from around. Served peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with the grapes and chips. Then the kids were excited to look for the 300 eggs hid on the side lot. It took me about 20 min. to hid them and only about 5 min for them to find them. It was a lot of fun. Happy Easter.

Elizabeth learned about cowboys and cowgirls this week at school and on Friday they dressed up. She was quite facinated with it. She had lots of questions. Are there still cowboys? Do they only live in Texas? Are Caroline and Kayleen a cowgirl? Now we want our own boots so we can dress like a cowgirl.

Chickenpox

She has the chickenpox. Alexandria had her MMR and Chickenpox vaccine a week ago and now we have the chickenpox. I am not sure of the vaccine now. It is all over her. Nights haven't been so fun, I guess it itches pretty bad.

wow . I am tired from the day. Meals, school, laundry, beds to be made, toys to clean up, dishwasher to be done, extra sport activities to go to and the list can go on some days. And I love to sit down at the end of the day and read , well I just enjoy sitting in a quiet house. The Day is done.

Snowman

Well , we had another snow day yesterday. It was Will's party and it made the excitement a little more intense. It was fun. However, I forgot my camera so you can see that event on Mark and Lauren's link. We got home and at just before dark Elizabeth wanted to go out and build a snowman before it melted. She learned her lesson from the last snow. She got up the next morning on the last snow and was upset to see she couldn't build a snowman because it was melted. Alexandria is looking out the front door watching her sister play wishing she could go. I will not be able to get by with not taking her out before to long. For some reason it is not as exciting to be out in the wet cold snow anymore to me like it was when I was a kid. I was looking for my gloves and I don't even have any. Elizabeth had to use her dad's . But we were thankful for some snow boots sent to us from Ellie and Ava.

Can you see the snow? I had to take the picture while it was snowing because by morning we may only have ice and then that will be gone by noon. So Elizabeth thinks that this is the snow storm of all times. She said it was "unbelievable, incredible, wonderful and amazing" This is the first she has ever seen that she remembers.

Birthday Party

We had a birthday party Saturday for Alexandria. The theme was clown. I had the same cake made for her that I had when I turned one and it is the same bakery. I also had it done for Elizabeth so maybe the tradition will continue. Yes she dug right into her piece of cake, but didn't really eat it just enjoyed smearing it everywhere. Didn't get that picture . Elizabeth painted all the kids faces like a clown including Cameron the "big kid". She did a pretty good job.

Alexandria Grace is ONE YEARS OLD. Time does fly. I made cupcakes today for her so we could sing Happy Birthday to her when Elizabeth got home from school. We were glad Will was with Nanny today so he could join in on the fun. I wasn't able to have Noah and Addison because they are sick but we hope they will be well to come to the official party on Saturday. You can see her one year photos here

Books, Books, Books....

I am looking for a good book or author. Wondering if anyone has suggestions. I just finished reading A Thousand Splendid Sun by Khaled Hosseini it was really good. I have read his other book Kite Runner which is also highly recommended. Another Author I really like is Jodi Picoult . Some books I have read are My sisters Keeper ( my favorite) , The pact, Plain Truth, The Tenth Circle. She has a special way of writing. Another favorite and never read one any better is Not without my Daughter. Email me at trmatthews@bellsouth.net I will post recommended books.

10th yr Anniversary

Our Anniversary is on Dec. 20th and it doesn't seem real but it was our 10th this year. We spent 4 days at Paradise Island in the Bahamas. It was relaxing and warm.

I am not sure what time of year it is. Other than seeing christmas decorations out and santa at the stores I would think it was more like Easter than christmas. We are having 70 degree weather. Now how are you to dress today? Short sleeves or long sleeves it is suppose to be winter. Oh well it makes for great days to play some tennis. We went to see Santa and they also had face painting there. Elizabeth got her face painted like Rudolph.

Wow, Could I say busy. A full fun week of playing and well more playing. It started with a wedding and then as I have already posted American Girl and hockey for the guys. On thanksgiving we ate a ton of food and then had football game in the afternoon. The kids had a soccer game and that was quite cute. Then we had the neighborhood festivities Friday. Saturday was all about football games and I have no clue to what went on with that. What is football any how. You can see more photos on Brad and Shelly or Mimisusan 's blogspot which is on my link. We went to a lovely farm north of us for a fun day of hay rides, pig chasing by the kids, pumpkin carving, horse shoe throwing, soccer ball games, paint ball shooting ( those who do that ) sitting by the fire and enjoying seeing the goats, donkeys, horses, baby pups, chickens, rabbits and more. It is a true farm and the kids love it. I am hoping I will get some pictures emailed to me and then I will add them to the post. It was wonderful . Not often do you get to do something like that.

Well, I will have to tell you where From the Southland came from. Brad thought he would be funny and got into my account and changed my name. Well, I actually liked it because that is just where I am from. So I thought I would write a little about a few people who can give you a true feel of the south. I have a girl who baby sits for me and she is a great singer. She is a senior in high school and is working her way to being a well known singer. Well, It has been a busy , fun, relaxing fall break. Elizabeth was out of school for a couple of days for a fall break and I didn't realize it would be a nice break for me also. It started off with a trip to where Earl was from. It was his class reunion, which was interesting to see folks he speaks of when he tells me about his "fun" growing up days. His parents then picked up the kids after the family picnic at the park on Saturday afternoon while we stayed another night because the evening dinner wasn't for kids. That is where the relaxing part begins. The next day we went to his parents which is over an hour away and stayed 2 more days. I happened to be on the internet looking at the Celtic woman and saw they were performing an hour away from where we were so off to the concert we went and it was wonderful . Memee probably was tired when we left but she got to spend quite a lot of time with the kids and we got to enjoy going about.

Pumpkin Patch

Hello, It seems I have been out of touch since I haven't blogged in a while. We were having computer problems and I could not get into my account. Cindy and I took the kids to the pumpkin patch last week to pick a pumpkin. Elizabeth and Will went and found the perfect pumkin they said and it took the two of them to bring it to me. So cute to see them working together with all thier effort. They each rode on the ponies, jumped in the bouncy house and Noah enjoyed the petting farm.

We have a large green space in front of our house which is part of the development, so it is a great place to play if the mosquito's are not out. Cindy and Daniel were out throwing freesby so we went to join them. It was to dark to get a picture of the freesby throwing but I got some of the kids. Then they came over to enjoy a bowl of ice cream with the left over maple cream sauce from the peach cobbler. So there are many uses for the cream sauce. I even put it in my coffee . Yum , Yum. Oh, I must have gotten 10 mosquito's bites so tonight wasn't the night to be out.

Learning new things....

Elizabeth went to her cousins for the evening yesterday and saw him riding his bike so that made her determined to learn to ride hers, so this evening she practiced and got the hang of it quite well. Aunt Lauren gave her some lessons last night so that helped. Alexandria loves getting in the Dora tent to play. She thinks it is so cool. So Elizabeth gettes in with her and they can play quite awhile together in the tent.

B's - Books and Ballet

Alexandria is exploring and finding all kinds of things. I caught her in Elizabeth's books. Oops she ripped out a page, which her sister was not happy about. We moved the books to a higher shelf and put her toys on the bottom maybe she will enjoy that. Elizabeth has been having fun doing ballet at her school after school one day a week. She says she doesn't want to do sports just ballet and music. Her nanny gives her some piano lessons when she can. She practices often without me saying anything so maybe lessons will be soon.

Time to update my blog. We have been in school for a few weeks now and Elizabeth loves her teacher. She goes to a small private school near the house. She loves learning and is so excited to be reading. We stayed home during the labor Day weekend and enjoyed the neighborhood pool, which they had a party so it was quite full. Alexandria is crawling and cutting her teeth. You can see her teeth in the picture. The picture of Elizabeth with her cake is the first cake she made with her little electric oven she just got. She loves baking cookies and things in it. Mom just has to find the time to do it with her. The cheese smile of Elizabeth is to show off her lost tooth. I have one getting teeth and one losing teeth.

We went to New Hampshire for Milford convention and then stayed for a few days. We had so much fun being together. They kids could not get enough of each other. So fun to watch them have fun together. There is nothing like being with your cousins. It was quite a house full of girls.

July 4th beach trip

We enjoyed a great trip to the gulf coast of Florida for the 4th of July. The sand and water was beautiful. Elizabeth loved playing on the beach making sand castles and swimming in the pool. Alexandria liked the pool and breezie naps on the beach. Elizabeth's favorite night was riding go-carts with her dad and then getting to drive one herself on the kiddie one. We were not quite ready to come back but loved our first trip together just our family since Alexandria was born.
